VoIP - Voice over IP
IP (Internet Protocol)
is a data network protocol used to transmit information between
computers, PDAs and other internet appliances.
While protocol meeting these
standards
can be used in a variety of locations, it is the primary protocol of the internet.
VOIP
devices utilize a voice digitizing process convert content that is typically analog (voice, video, music, etc.)
to digital data and transmit it over the IP network.
VoIP technology can be found in a wide variety of products such as:
VoIP solutions, however, have been plagued by
QOS (Quality Of Service)
issues, due to the effects of factors such as
latency
and
jitter
on observed performance.
