Job Description

Jan. 1997 to present

IBM Corp., Dept. 2S9, Server Performance Analysis, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

In late 1996 I formed the corporation Adapticom to better accomodate the demands of multiple clients and began doing some WEB and HTML related work along with delving into VRML. On the hardware side I also began investigating the potential of some designs incorporating digital signal processing, telephony, and the intenet.

However, the bulk of my efforts in 1996 are being directed towards completing the low level details of the 1600 mbyte/second realtime data collection system I had spent 1995 architecting for IBM. The low level portions of the design involved FPGA designs for DRAM controllers, data filtering, bus multiplexing and de-multiplexing, along with board level designs connecting the various functions and sub-systems.

My experience in this part of the field, and on this project, pre-dates this job by several years. I worked on a related project with 100 mbyte/second capability throughout the early '90s at IBM's Boca Raton Florida Location. In late 1994 the IBM PC Co. began moving to Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. Negotiations for my presence at the new location were completed in early 1995 and I began work for the newly formed Server Performance Group in Feb. of 1995. In 1996 I began design work on a two complex system designs for realtime collection of data in high bandwidth environments.
